My contribution to Nike's Black Future Movement campaign during 2021 Black History Month involved designing an Air Force 1 capturing the present Black American experience as we know it today. I wanted to embody the resilience of Black Americans, navigating daily issues linked to historical injustices and create an expression that intertwined the triumphant and often-times defeating aspects of what it means to be Black in America.

The veiled flower graphic signifies the dual nature of flowers and how they can simultaneously represent feelings of love and admiration while also relating to feelings of grief or loss if presented in a different context.
This design, influenced by the intricate and layered tapestry of the Black American experience, acknowledges both triumphs and the negativity woven into our narratives.
It is also meant to acknowledge the often overlooked truth that the Black American experience cannot be easily summarized and defined as contemporary culture frequently suggests.
